I have to agree with you Jimbo. Owen will probably score more goals for Tevez and I reckon him and Rooney up front could be explosive for United. Owen will play up top, allowing Rooney to drop off which he loves to do but could not do before.

Owen and Ronney are both quite flexible and I reckon they can both fill various roles, I reckon Ronney could play almost anywhere and be great.
But Owen will thrive at Old Trafford, and revive his career no end, and the Manchester United fans will like him simply because Fergie signed him.

Adebayor, it seems, has asked for more time to think about the offer from Manchester City after City and Arsenal had agreed upon a 20m pound deal for the striker.. Sad
It seems he is still hoping that AC Milan will make a bid for him..Besides there are reports that City might not be willing to pay Adebayor the 1,70,000 pound per week salary that he is demanding for..But Hughes remains confident that the striker will eventually join the club..
Both Arsenal and its fans( including me) will be glad to see his back as soon as possible..Hope Arsene can get rid of this guy somehow and purchase a decent striker or a midfielder instead..

Oh Arsenal will sell him, but who ever they buy to replace him, or who ever they spend the money on might not be enough to keep Arsenal a top 4 team next season,
I think Man City might well replacxe Arsenal in the top 4 and Everton too might drop Arsenal down even further,
But thats for another post

No Jimbo.Arsenal has enough talent, not just to stay in the top four ,but, also to top the league..I believe it was a bit unlucky last season..
The club has a lot of promising and talented youngsters who are capable of delivering the goods this season..And, with Adebayor on his way out and strikers Huntelaar or Chamakh (who has already expressed his desire to join Arsenal) likely to be signed in as his replacement, things can only get better for the club..
And, not to forget, Arshavin, Rosicky,Walcott and Fabregas will be available for the whole season unlike last time..
About Manchester City, I don't think money alone is enough for a club to become the best..They might have bought/ trying to buy a lot of stars but we have to wait and watch if they can play well as a unit, which I heavily doubt.. Smile

Guess what..?Manchester United have bought yet another striker..This after Ferguson having announced just a few days back that Owen would be his last signing this summer..
This time around they have signed a much younger yet promising Senegal striker Mame Biram Diouf ( not the ill-tempered Diouf of Blackburn Rovers Very Happy) from the Norwegian club FK Molde...The transfer fee for the 21 year old Diouf hasn't been disclosed yet..
Guess United's signings might not be finished for this summer yet! Very Happy

Manchester City has finally signed Adebayor for 25m pounds..Thank God! I was beginning to get worried about the deal not coming through..
He completed his medical test yesterday.Manchester City has confirmed this, too.So no doubts whatsoever regarding him having joined City..
Arsenal now are set to make a 10m pound bid for Chamakh, although Wenger has stated that he isn't close to signing anyone at the moment..

Wigan have made a great signing, the boy McCarthy from Hamilton Accies. I knew Hamilton would get good money for him and initially they will get 1.2 million, rising to 2 million depending on appearances.

Arsenal, well we will see, but I cant see them being top 4 any more(poetic)

McCarthy decided to go to Wigan? Good move for him- well better than Celtic anyway. I forgot to mention the big transfer deal of last week- Barry Ferguson to Birmingham! Laughing I cannot believe McLeish bought him! Surprised

Well McLeish knows him, and he knows he is a decent enough player and just maybe he might do a good job there. I am shocked that a team like Birmingham havent signed Boyd as well,
I knew Celtic wouldnt get Mc Carthy, they should have made a bit better offer.

Wow it has been a while since I contributed to this thread so bare with me as I list all the transfers in the last nine days Laughing

James McCarthy finally completed a £1.2M move to Wigan from Hamilton. Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton both moved from Sheffield United to Tottenham for a combined fee thought to be around the £10M mark. Aberdeen targets, Stephen Hughes and Reda Johnson, ended up signing for Norwich City and Plymouth Argyle respectively, however the Dons have signed Stuart Nelson from Norwich as a back up to goalkeeper Jamie Langfield.

Manchester City allowed Felipe Caicedo to join Sporting Lisbon on a season long loan. Celtic signed Danny Fox from Coventry City for an undisclosed fee. Dean Whitehead made the switch from Sunderland to Stoke for a fee of £3M, while Marseille captain Lorik Cana made the switch to the Stadium of Light for a reported £5M. Bolton have signed both Sam Ricketts (Hull) and Zat Knight (Aston Villa) for undisclosed fees- do you hate undisclosed fees as much as I do? Laughing

The biggest transfer of the week has to be Zlatan Ibrahimovic signing for Barcelona from Inter Milan. The fee? £40M plus Samuel Eto'o and Aleksander Hleb (season long loan). I cannot help but feel that Inter Milan have got the better end of this deal. Laughing

Peter Crouch is expected to sign for Tottenham from Portsmouth, with Darren Bent expected to leave White Hart Lane for Sunderland.

And finally, Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa is set to complete a move to Real Madrid for a fee supposed to be around the £3.5M mark.

The boy Hughes chose Norwich over Aberdeen, didnt they drop a division last season? I heard he was holding out for a better offer than Aberdeen could make, but I had thought Aberdeen would be able to offer more than Norwich,

JImbo Norwich offered Hughes £7K a week to sign for them. No way a club like Aberdeen could afford a player like that. Just a sign of the times.

Gee, 7k a week for a player in what will be the third level of English football. A 3 year deal and Hughes would earn over a million. How can clubs like Norwich afford wages like that. I heard that Burke, Adams and a few others at Ibrox werent on as much as that!!!

Well Norwich have over 20K season ticket holders, plus the television deal for the Coca-Cola leagues is way better than the one the SPL has. It is no surprise that a lot of Scottish players are going south.
