I was on some threads about peoples pet dogs here, and I saw some replies that to me were a little bit rude. I kind of went away with the impression that in some countries people really hate dogs. I am just looking for some education on this, because it's news to me.

In your country do people ever keep dogs as pets? Do you have a lot of packs of mean dogs running around? How are dogs treated where you live? Just curious.

here in the uk we havent got any packs of wild dogs as any dogs found on the streets are taken to dog rescues and rehomes, we keep them as pets here which is great, i have had 4 dogs in my life as pets we got a stray from a rescue when i was 3 years old he was an old dog then anyway and i had him till i was 7 years old, then after he died i had a labradoor that my uncle rescued from a man who was going to drowned it because he didnt want it any more which my mom had upuntill a few months back when we had to have him put to sleep at the vets due to illness as he was very old at 18, when i left home my hubby already had a rottweiler dog which we sadly lost to cancer last year and i looked for another rescuse dog to give a loving home to and hound henry, who is a realy big part of our family, i will put some pictures up of him for you to see he is lovely and gentle despite being very big, he loves nothing more than a cuddle or to play with my children

this below was our previous dog who we sadly lost to cancer

I don't see any stray pack of dogs going and wandering around in my neighborhood. I have seen many people walk there dogs around. There are times at night where I can hear a coyote howl. So I would be worried if I was a stray dog wandering around.

Dogs are loved here, almost all household had a pet dog that stay with them. But there are also stray dogs who don't have owners and they just stayed on streets, also though people here love dogs they are still afraid of the harm that they can do to them. So they vaccinated there pet dogs for anti-rabies and they really take care of them. We used to have a pet dog when i was young but he died, he is our guard in the house.

Dogs in our country need to register residence. If a dog without registering residence, police will seize them away and kill them. Registering residence for dogs need money and the amount is a big sum. We treat dogs very well. Some women like to call their dogs as sons or daughters. We give them good food and most of them lead a very comfortable life.

I think that here in the UK we would be classed as Dog lovers.
I havent read anything on here about other places and what the people think of dogs and how dogs are viewed.

To answer your question... yes. Here in the Philippines, there are people who keep dogs as their pets. There are even those who treat their dogs as if they are their own children. Unfortunately, there are also a group of people who treat their dogs as if they are dirt. They only keep the dogs for one single purpose. To guard their house. Exclamation

They don't even care if their dog is tied in a place where it's completely uncomfortable. Sometimes, these people don't even bother to keep their dogs properly leashed. They just let their dogs run around the neighborhood street. Free to snarl and run after unsuspecting people who just happen to pass by.

I know this because one of my neighbors treat their dogs that way. If I'm not mistaken, they have four scrawny dogs. All covered with serious scabies. I had the misfortune to be snarled at and ran after by these dogs. The most that I'm scared of is contracting rabies, if they do have it and I got bitten by them.

But I only have one last dose of anti-rabies shot to receive next week. And I hope I'll get the protection I need if these dogs do bite me.

In my place some dogs are not treated as pets. They are all in chains and they are being kicked and hurt. Some stray dogs are being kicked out because they leave their waste on the street. In some place, dog is being killed and they eat it. In our house , dog is respected. WE love dogs. We treat them as part of the family. Dogs are happy inside our home. We let them live a very comfortable and peaceful life. Actually some of our dogs are look likes people too, because they have been with us for a long time. They are being sweet just like a young girl and boys. and they also feel jealous if one is treated more that of him or her. My dog which is a dog is a very jealous one. He likes to be hugged and when I went home he is always there never get tired of being happy to see me.
