I dont know how it started in India. But as far as i know it just like that for few thousand year.I asked my parents and grandparents if they know how they become vegetarian. They dont have any answer. As far as they know my ancestors were vegetarian too.So its just like family tradition.
If you look in to religion then yah Hinduism encourage vegetarian diet but its not strict about it.Many other communities are non vegetarian and Hindu at a same time.
So i dont know how it started.anybody here from India know how it started? _________________ London bridge is falling down. |

Hi Piya! I'm a Catholic and it is almost the same as Christian. According to our bible where we based our beliefs, during the time of God, people who eat meat sentenced to death because it is a mortal sin. So I think that during early times, people are vegetarian because aside from meat, vegetables is only present as there food. _________________ my first baby.. |

people who eat meat were sentenced to death
This is something new to me.Thanks for the information.
Well i belong to conservative hindu brahmin sect. There isnt any punishment for eating meat. But in old days people who ate meat were banned from performing religious rituals.
In early days when human being were leaving in jungles everyone used to hunt and eat meat. This change occurred as people started farming. But i dont know why some communities in India and not all turned vegetarian also when exactly. _________________ London bridge is falling down. |
