| Nokia E71 is better phone having gps, wifi, qwerty keypad, etc. or Nokia N97 bit too pricey, if you really need to gps, go for any gps gadgets which are available all over the world. its better to use fully loaded GPS gadget than a integrated gps ones on nokia or sony. The connectivity of gps is poor for most of the phones. for example if you are under a shelter you cant get connection from satellite for GPS. so you have to go outside the shelter. |

I have tried a few different phones with GPS built in and to be honest at the best of time there poor, they struggle to get a lock even when outside and they have very limited use. If you are walking and have time to stop and look I suppose they could be ok I have tried this but was not all that impressed to be honest.
The handsets I have tried were a Nokia N96, Nokia 5800 and a Lg Kc910 and not really seen any that were better. Its a nice feature but still needs some work to be done before its going to be a must have feature. |

Hmmm, I guess I do not want to change my mobile phone for almost everything just by nokia 6600. Also I do not have much money to replace it. I was quite satisfied with this 6600, with the help of my opera mini can access the Internet quickly and in support of operator services as well. Thanks for the info you provide, I may not need GPS. what I need is to access the internet with this mobile and able to open this forum and make more money ... hahahahah GO TO THE POSTING
Hmmm I think for mobile 6600 class will not even have a GPS program installed on the mobile, it's because 6600 has not 3G/3.5G based. indeed for nokia N series was able to GPS, but to achieve a good quality still minimal, because the 3G/3.5G network in my country is still limited _________________ I Love Make More Money |

Actually, do you really need a GPS to see a map?! I mean you can install applications that will contain maps already stored so that you can browse through the cities or states or countries, whatever you want.
Alternatively, you'll need a GPS to know the current location and other features which are not possible through your Nokia 6600. _________________ Winners never Quit !! |

I think this mobile is got old now and should sell it. You can go for the nokia 6303 classic which has the maps system installed in it. Means you get the whole navigating facility by using the GPRS and you can view the maps for free as they are in the phone memory but to find your location on the map you need to go for GPRS. This mobile is only for 6500Rs. And also all the other classic features are available like the sound quality, and it comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash. _________________ Mohak.... |

hey friend.. i am having nokia 6600 phone too... yes its not having the gps system.. but still you can enjoy this facility... but you have to activate the gprs system from your operator.. Google has provided a new software google map and it is very cool.. you can see your current location and you can also find the distance between any two location from that software.. But it run with internet. so you have to activate gprs first.. I have downloaded this software and i think its coolest software. JUST try it. |

naruto is right. you should have your GPRS/3g opened and download the mobile google maps. Its very easy to use. Just search for it and download it on any web or wap sites. _________________ Shake it! |

| Hello! Yes, you can have maps on your nokia 6600. It does not support GPS (Global Positioning System) but you can install an application that uses GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) connection. The application I'm referring to is the google maps, it is on jar format and it is compatible on all phones that support java. It could be signed , modified or editable server. You can edit the server depending on your network. It consumes more memory aside from the application itself such as its cache or saved data, it can be cleared out to save memory. |

| qamarep, the difference of using a mobile application to see the maps when compared to an atlas is you can see the entire walkthrough when you zoom in the map. Another advantage of the google maps using a network connection, the maps are updated periodically, unlike on atlas where you must buy another copy for the update. Since the application can make you see the street view and satelite view, it helps travellers find the easier way on their destination so it can be used as a navigator, light version than on the original one which uses GPS. That was an advantage of using an application for maps rather than atlas. |

| there are many mobile phones in which you can view maps but definitely not in 6600.Because this phone is slow and cannot work efficiently if loaded up with lots of 3rd party application. The internal processor is slow so even if you manage to use any map application then you will not be able to view them smoothly and will take you a lot of time too.So i owuld suggest you get yourself any GPS supported phone such as N95 or maybe HTC phones |
