My son has bought N97 for price of Rs 16000/- and sometime y during the monsoon some dampness went into the phone. Now the phone key pad ( number pad ) is not working and the service center is telling me that the repairs would be costing rs 3000/- Here in India, some workable cell phones are available at the price of rs 500 only.
Really the costlier cell phones means costlier repairs, and who knows if the service center is not making fool of you.
Rs 50 = $ 1 .

Nokia is good company.Chances are less they are making fool of you.Its just like that costlier items have costlier parts too.Mine is also N97.Thank god till date never had any repair.
3000 sound too much.Dont he got any warranty with it?I got warranty of 1 year for my cell phone.

i think the reason why the repairs are costlier for the more expensive phones is that the parts as well as the technology are more advanced, therefore cost more when there is a need to repair or to replace these broken parts. of course, the simpler phones will cost less to repair since the parts as well as the technology being used for simpler phones are quite cheap.

Its really true. My friends mobile phone got damaged and the amount for repairing is very high. Also its very hard to get those damaged parts of the phone. Now they are using cheap rated phones.
